Kazuyo Komoda's 'Goron' bowl for Hands on Design is an impressive centrepiece with deep meaning. Crafted from hand-turned Lebanon cedar, the bowl rests on a pointed bottom — akin to a spinning top — which allows it to swerve and roll gently in a smooth oscillating flow. It is this motion from which 'Goron' takes its name, the moniker 'goron' being an onomatopoeic word in Japanese for this movement, while this action also lends itself to gesture of sharing, in which this bowl is rooted.
