Nanna Ditzel

Known for her postmodernism attitude and rebellion against tradition, trailblazing designer Nanna Ditzel (1923-2005) was a leading figure in the 1990s revival of Danish design. Trained as a cabinet maker and a student of the School of Arts and Crafts and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, Ditzel's work with material such as fiberglass, wickerwork and foam rubber

was ground-breaking, and the designer was also responsible for creating the world-renowned 'Hallingdal' furniture textile for Kvadrat. In addition to establishing Interspace, a London-based furniture house, Ditzel also began a long term collaboration with Fredericia Furniture in the late eighties, starting with the 'Bench for Two' and, later in 1993, the 'Trinidad' chair.
