Göran Hongell

Born in Helsinki, Göran Hongell (1902-1973) was one of the pioneers of the Finnish glass tradition. Having started out as a decorative painter, Hongell became one of Iittala’s first designers, responsible for readying existing models for serial production. Before long he was designing his own pieces, including various stackable glassware sets in the 1930s, and the now iconic streamlined ‘Aarne’ glasses in 1949.
