Equally renowned for his paintings, ceramics, prints and performance art as he is for his continued use of humour to confront the pretensions of the art world, Scottish-born artist Bruce McLean has gained international recognition, with his work in both private and public collections around the world.
While his early career focused on an abandonment of conventional studio practices, often manifested through satirical performances pieces, McLean's work turned increasingly towards painting and sculpture in the mid-70s, a route that has resulted in a number of exhibitions since.
