Angelo Mangiarotti

Milanese designer Angelo Mangiarotti graduated with a degree in architecture at the city's Politechnical University in 1948. Shortly after he became a visiting professor at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, a period during which the Italian designer became acquainted with architectural giants that included Frank Lloyd Wright, Walter Gropius, Mies van der Rohe

and Konrad Wachsmann. Later, in 1989, Mangiarotti established Mangiarotti & Associates in Tokyo, the firm on which he built his reputation as both an architect and designer, with his innate sense of structure often visible in his many lighting designs.
