Achille Castiglioni

Achille Castiglioni, also known as Cici, is one of Italy's most influential design figures. A graduate of architecture at the Politecnico University of Milan, Cici joined forces with his brothers Livio and Pier Giacomo in 1938 to establish Studio Castiglioni. Here, Cici focused on the entire spectrum of design — from architecture and urban planning to product and light design. As well as closely collaborating with his brother Pier Giacomo, with whom he created a number of iconic pieces

such as the Sella and Mezzadro stools, Cici also teamed up with major brands and visionaries. These included Alessi, DePadova, Flos, Enzo Mari, Pierluigi Carr and Max Huber, with each product created emblematic of real ingenuity, humanist culture, intelligent experimentation, technical expertise, aesthetic sensibility and, above all, function.
