Founded in 2007, the Massimo Alba brand started with a gift from the designer to his wife Mari. Created just for her, two coats, a sweater, and a pair of trousers formed the basis of the Milanese house’s first collection. Renowned for his cashmere classics, Alba says: ‘If everything in my shop is unfashionable, then that’s perfect for me. I try to make clothes in which you feel exactly as you are.'
Founded in 1866 in Paisley, then at the heart of the Scottish weaving industry, Begg & Co quickly became known for its finely crafted, hand-loomed shawls. Having relocated to Ayr, on Scotland’s west coast, at the turn of the century, Begg & Co specialises in the small-scale production of scarves, wraps and throws using century-old milling machines and the finest cashmere, silk and lambswool angora yarns.
