Bokja

The brainchild of Huda Baroudi and Maria Hibri, Bokja was born from the pair's mutual love of furniture and fabrics. The Beirut design and craft studio regularly brings together artisans, carpenters and designers to create everything from furniture to installations, with embroidery and textiles the consistent thread running throughout. Focused on preserving local tradition, Bokja's underlying theme of identity often looks to Lebanon's geographic position between east and west, as well as the country's harmony of old and new.

The result is a visually chaotic assembly of fabric pieces stitched together to articulate a unified message. In 2016, House of Today launches The Shop, in partnership with WallpaperSTORE*, to coincide with its third biennale exhibition, 'Jungle Protocol, traditional & etiquette', to promote Lebanese designers.
